Scanned with ClamWin. No viruses found. Haven't finished downloading the actual game so I can't test it out, but it doesn't have any viruses.

there may or may not be a virus in the keygen but the crack has been verified as working by others, please post if you can get past the galaxy map once you get into the game a bit as many users are reporting having trouble with this.

The galaxy map issue is a known problem with the game itself on nVidia 8800 cards, and a few people have also reported it on other 8x00 series models as well. It's not a problem with the crack or the cloned image.
X1950XT has the Galaxy Map issue and some texture bugs too. With the newest driver...
I'm unsure if it's a known problem with the 8800's. Looking at the official website there's only two people who claim they have this problem. However they do say there's a ton of other problems with the 8800's but I can't find anymore people complaining about star map failing that have the legal copy.
And there is a save workaround on the official forums too but I don't think that's for the crack either. The symptoms don't seem to be the same and checking what needs to be done myself I already had it done like the fix said. So I think there's something else going on. Then again I obviously don't know, just guessing here. Either way it's annoying as hell, I desperatly want it.

By the way i cant save anytime. I could in the early period of the game (on Eden Prime) anytime, but I am a Spectre now, and i cant hit the F6 button, and the Menu>> Save doesnt work..

Saving and galaxy map don't work... and it is NOT a video card problem, as many tested it with both the original exe and the crack and it works with the original.
Also, the detonation crack is a stolen UNFINISHED crack from reloaded (different size files), so it might have MORE bugs then those that were fixed before reloaded released their own (still bugged) version.

oh, and before you say something, saving works in the very first part of the game, but then it stops working.
The saving isssue is not from the crack just bad programing from the creators of mass effect.

I think that isnt relevant because the official players having issues from the begining of the game (they cant save at all), but we (as I noticed) can save at eden prime...
By the way, i have C:\documents and setting\Myusername\Bioware folder, so the partition problem doesnt exist for me.

I've downloaded and installed the game. Downloaded several cracks and I keep getting the same error. Every time I try to run the game it just says "Mass Effect has stopped working." I've been checking a lot of forums and have found no one else is having this problem.

Noop sorry, it didn't work. Just thought that because you can actually save in a MAKO on Ferona :S
If you spawn a vehicle you can save when you're in it! :)

The crack IS the problem, although it may be a problem for only certain video cards.
I own an Nvidia 8800 and purchased the game but used this same crack to avoid having to put the disc in, and experienced both the Galaxy Map problem as well as the quicksave problem. I swapped the exe back to the original, put in the disc, fire it up, both bugs fixed.
That's pretty definitive imho that the crack has a problem.

just wanted to chime in - i'm having the same problem as cronion and theholyangel -- game crashes after the "Press Any Key" screen with an application not responding message. anyone know what the problem is? thx

@ Cranion...& Eonxl....I found a solution to that program not responding problem.....go into the mass effect folder...and then binaries.....right click the masseffect.exe file and hit RUN as ADMINISTRATOR.....that worked for me....another thing u can do is go into control panel and disable account controls...let me know if this fixed the issue..thanks

People who have this "MassEffect.exe has stopped working" problem, when you try to run ME. Try turning off UAC(User account control) and then reinstall the game, it worked for me.
Ah, yes, if you're running Vista, you have to right-click » Run as administrator...

I've never had a keygen flag as a virus on avast, and this one alerted me. I'm thinking there's a real virus here.
Just in case there's any question left, I downloaded this and immediately symantec had to quarantine not one but two viruses. Do not download this.

Recommend disconnection of your internet whilst in play.
